Joseph was born in Gambia, but spent most of his life in Cote d'Ivior where he owned a successful art gallery. A student of African art and culture, he was forced out of his country of residence because of the ongoing civil war and into the neighboring Ghana, where he owns a shop and practices a few types of art forms - mostly batiks and paintings. Joseph is GWF's most loyal partner, offering his time and expertise to train volunteers and local students at a discount price. He has also donated several of his paintings to the school store for free. |
Elizabeth and her family are one of many families to participate in the age old tradition of glass bead making in the Somonya area. Every Wednesday and Saturday she brings her family's hand made jewelry (made at her house) to the Ogomanya Market in the Eastern Region, one of the largest in Ghana, to sell. She will give tours and lessons to GWF volunteers. |
Joanna and her family do a variety of different art forms. Among other things, GWF purchases many of our ebony carvings, bowls, and paintings from Joanna's shop in Aburi. She lives with her three children and husband. |
Kofi does most of the metal/brass work purchased by GWF. He specializes in masks, calabash game boards, and kente weaving. Currently his loom is broken so most of his time is spent making masks. Many in are gallery are done by Kofi. |
