Mission Statement |
Or as the say in the States, "Welcome" to www.ghanawisdom.org, the official web site for The Ghana Wisdom Foundation (GWF). The Ghana Wisdom Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization created in 2005 that seeks to provide educational resources, opportunities and support for schools, students, and educators in both America and Ghana, while also creating a sense of global community and cultural appreciation.
GWF understands the relationship between education and the opportunities it brings and recognizes the disparities in both America and Ghana ' s educational systems. It is our goal to lessen this prominent gap between the “ have ' s ” and “ have not ' s ” of both countries by providing support and resources for students, schools, and educators in need by establishing partnerships with dedicated individuals to promote change and opportunity in deserving schools. GWF believes, to make a difference in the world, you must first know the world. Following this idea, GWF acknowledges the need for cultural understanding and global awareness in a world with an ever-increasing need for such qualities. It is our goal to inspire students, educators, and schools, to redefine and broaden their idea of community to include the world around them and everyone who calls it home.
GWF strives to achieve our foundation goals by implementing various programs, activities and funds, including, but not limited to: -Educational partnership programs in both America and Ghana that seek to form close working relationships with schools, agencies, or individuals to attain specific goals, to achieve lasting solutions to their specific educational problems and goals, to better develop and support educational opportunities and achievement for students and educators, and to improve the overall quality of education at learning establishments. |

-In America , we hope to accomplish this goal by bringing technology to schools, creating or bringing back extracurricular activities for students, and designing unique learning opportunities, and more. -In Ghana, we hope to achieve this goal by forming unique volunteer programs, supporting teacher training, creating tuition sponsorship funds for children to obtain a higher degree of education, bringing modern technology to classrooms, enabling small and large scale infrastructure improvements to schools, and more. |
-A volunteer program that offers teaching, learning, and working experiences for qualified Americans in order to enhance education for Ghanaian students and boost cultural awareness for volunteers. -A cultural exchange program to bring American students to Ghana for a unique, interactive educational opportunity that seeks to expand ideas and definitions of community to include other cultures and enhance social consciousness. -Online guides for both students and teachers that promote cultural awareness and appreciation in the classroom, offer reciprocal learning and teaching opportunities between American and Ghanaian schools, provide lesson plans for educators that are both culturally unbiased and require minimal resources, and service learning opportunities to students. Among other qualities, GWF is unique in that its employees and board of trustees operate on a 100% volunteer basis, meaning ALL profit goes to the beneficiary it was intended for. Also, donors have complete say in where and how their money will be spent, allowing contributors to be more involved in the GWF mission, and donations to be more personal.
